The Ten Circle Challenge Facts

I guess it wasn't as harmless as we thought . . .

The Pew Forums latest research on church attendance in 2008 is 39% attend church on a regular basis. (national margin of error +- 0.6%) — http://religions.pewforum.org

  Of the 39% church attendance:

  • 68% are Protestant
  • 24% are Catholic†
  • 2% are Mormon
  • 1% is Jehovah Witness
  • 2% are Jewish
  • 1% is Muslim
  • 1% is Hindu
  • 1% is non-Protestant

  Out of 100 people:
39 people go to church on a regular basis.
12 go to a world church that teaches something other than Jesus as the only way to God
(with the exception of Catholics who hold to a teaching of Jesus with other elements like
purgatory, paradise, Maryology†, etc., mixed in.)

That brings the total number of people who attend a Christ-centric service down to 27%

If you live in Texas or Oklahoma the number of church attendance is 47%. (so mark out six circles instead of seven)

  Report from 2008 SBC convention:
Out of 16,306,246 church members, only 6,150,000 attend church. That is 38%.

On the belief that there is more than one way to God other than Jesus:

  Of the United States population:
24% believe, “Their religion is the one true faith leading to eternal life.”
70% believe, “Many religions can lead to eternal life.”
7% don’t care.

  Of religious groups:
